Hot on the heels of Lethal Amounts’ massively over sold out, now infamous Leee Black Childers (R.I.P.) photo exhibit “Drag Queens, Rent Boys, Pick Pockets, Junkies, Rockstars & Punks” comes this new exhibit from Leee’s close friend & sometime subject. You might say this is truly the flip side of the coin of Leee’s work, a savvy hip teenager’s view of this now familiar world of NewYork’s Glitter Rock into the dawn of the Punk Rock era. But at that time this was the dangerous badlands of the New York City streets & the unknown ambitious nobodies Mr. Zone called friends. Everyone was in a band as Paul states in the coffee table book this show is celebrating, and these friends of Paul Zone were all about to become the biggest influence on pop culture as a whole. The subjects not knowing this fact makes these photos so remarkable. Seeing these people in their hungry infancy is very rare. And this is the treat of this show. Included with some already famous (Alice Cooper, T Rex, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Divine), are photos of Paul’s friends just hanging around or playing to a handful of people in small clubs, like Patti Smith, Kiss, Johnny Thunders, NY Dolls, Blondie, Ramones, Suicide, Wayne County, Dead Boys, design icons Stephen Sprouse, Anna Sui, and much more. Paul Zone’s “Playground: Growing Up in the New York Underground” published by Glitterati Inc. is a new jam packed coffee table book stuffed with amazing unseen photos & the life story of Paul and his brothers Miki Zone & Mandy Zone and his bands The Fast & Man 2 Man.
Join us for an exhibit of large prints (for sale), book signing & certain celebrity surprises.
Another night not to be missed!
