Planet B – a new project formed by San Diego based members Justin Pearson (Head Wound City, The Locust), Gabe Serbian (Head Wound City, The Locust) and Luke Henshaw – is definitely otherworldly. The trio, with a 7″ release on Pearson’s own label Three One G in 2015, is a mischievous and unique concoction of live electronics, drums and a guitar alongside Pearson’s harsh vocals.
The band made their live debut just last week at the San Diego Public Library in conjunction with a screening of the 2014 Italian movie Incompresa, directed by Asia Argento (yes, Dario’s daughter) and starring Charlotte Gainsbourg. Planet B made contributions to the Incompresa soundtrack and Pearson actually has a role in the movie, so the screening allowed it all to come full circle. The twelve minute performance is a haunting and raw exhibition of noise soundscapes and avant garde music with punk undertones. Luckily, here at Lethal Amounts, we are honored to premiere the performance below:
If you like what you hear, you can learn more about Planet B at Three One G. Additionally, Pearson and Serbian’s other band, Head Wound City, just kicked off their North American tour March 22, first stopping in Tucson, Arizona. For a full list of dates, check their website.
And if you can’t wait to get your hands on more of Planet B, you are in the right place! The trio recently did a tribalistic, sexy and somewhat spooky remix of the Los Angeles-based band VUM‘s track “Katrine” that you can listen to here:
